According to the consultancy, Game Pass had more than 33 million subscribers as of the end of 2023

Last year the service offered more than R$35 thousand reals in games to subscribers

According to an estimate by Omdia, an independent analytics and consultancy firm based in London, United Kingdom, Microsoft had approximately 33.3 million subscribers in Xbox Game Pass at the end of 2023. The information was shared in a IGN article regarding the Xbox ecosystem strategy.

According to Omdia senior analyst James McWhirter, Xbox Game Pass growth is slowing, and excluding the Xbox Game Pass Core line, the total number of subscribers was estimated at 33.3 million at the end of last year.

“We’re seeing slow adoption of Xbox Game Pass, even as Microsoft claims otherwise by repositioning Xbox Live Gold as Xbox Game Pass Core,” the analyst said. “Our forecast estimates that total Xbox Game Pass subscriptions (excluding Core/Live Gold) will be 33.3 million by the end of 2023, representing subscriber growth of just 13% – down from 15% in 2022. It is worth noting that more than half of them (55%) have subscribed to the Ultimate plan.”

Microsoft hasn’t provided official hardware sales data for a few years, and at least it appears that will extend to numbers involving Game Pass. However, in September 2023, Craig McNary, Xbox’s senior director of marketing, let slip on LinkedIn that the Microsoft service had 30 million subscribers in August 2023.

2023 was an excellent year for Game Pass subscribers, offering more than R$36,000 in games to subscribers. Names like Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, Lies of P, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty are among the highlights.
