“Jean Dujardin, in the OSS, he laughs terribly”: Clovis Kornilak shares his comedy favorites

A great regular at the Alpe d’Huez International Comedy Film Festival, actor Clovis Kornilak participates in the 27th edition not with a film, but as president of a special jury, which includes four comedy instructors. ESF (French ski school, editor’s note. ) Passionate about cinema.

Before heading to the screening, Clovis Korniak shared his biggest comedy favorites with AlloCiné.

your favorite comedy

Clovis Cornillac: I often find it hard to choose just one. When it comes to French comedies, it goes from the films of Gérard Uri to the films of Philippe de Broca, but also from the films of Pierre Richard. These are very successful comedies because they have both cinema and fun at the same time. I can quote La Grande Vadrouille or Rabbi Jacob.

And then for American comedy, it can be very successful when it’s crazy. Like the films of Zooldair or the Farrell brothers. It’s hard to pick just one because I love that laugh.

Your favorite comic book actor or actress?

Pierre Richard and Louis de Funes are references. De Funes because he makes us love the unlovable and it’s an incredible tour de force. He often plays trash, which we love. With this, he managed to establish something. He never redeems the character and always takes us into very funny territory.

I was very impressed by Jim Carrey, who has a crazy imagination and creativity. And yet in comedy, Catherine Frott, who has real comic potential. Like Jean Dujardin when he does OSS, he laughs with laughter. And I saw it done in Bris de Nice.

There are different laughs, different humor and often there are no comedy actors. These are the actors who stand out in this registry. Some won’t make it, like Alain Delon, but most actors can do comedy.

Your favorite comic scene?

Too much! For example, there are moments in Monty Python that you can rewatch and it always makes me laugh. I think of a lot of scenes in Life of Brian or Holy Grail, they’re crazy. They are insanely intelligent and worth watching because they talk so hard about us.

A movie that cheers you up?

Let’s Sing in the Rain, every time I see this I tell myself that this movie is awesome. It has everything and it is powerful.

The 27th edition of the Alpe d’Huez International Comedy Film Festival will take place from 15 to 21 January 2024.
