The victim’s brother-in-law confessed to having committed the crime

This Friday morning (19th), a 22-year-old man was arrested in Balneário Pinhal, on the northern coast of the state, accused of killing his brother-in-law. The body of the 31-year-old victim was found on the side of a road in the Túnel Verde neighborhood.

The crime was discovered after the Military Brigade (BM) received a 190 call reporting the presence of a body in a bush on Avenida dos Serrados. Once on site, the police officers found signs of violence and the absence of vital signs in the victim, proceeding to isolate the area.

The Civil Police (PC) promptly went to the site to start investigations, while the General Institute of Expertise (IGP) proceeded to collect the necessary information.

As the incident unfolded, the victim’s brother-in-law arrived at the scene and admitted to being the perpetrator of the crime. However, he claimed self-defense, claiming that he acted to protect his sister, who was allegedly attacked by his brother-in-law. The veracity of this version is still being examined by investigators.

The victim had wounds resulting from stab wounds and the murder weapon was found in a bush near the crime scene.

In addition to confessing to the murder, the defendant informed authorities that he had thrown his brother-in-law’s motorcycle into a stream. The search for the vehicle was supported by the military team of the Cidreira firefighters, who located the submerged motorcycle near Beco Guará, on the border between Balneário Pinhal and Capivari do Sul.

The man was arrested and taken to the city police station to document the incident.
