Ivan undergoes surgery after an injury on his debut for Internacional

The goalkeeper tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the win against Avenida. Colorado is not providing a return date for Ivan

Internacional’s reinforcement for 2024, goalkeeper Ivan has not had a good start to the season. After an injury in his debut with Colorado last Sunday, against Avenida, in the Campeonato Gaúcho, the archer underwent surgery this Monday.

Ivan tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee late in the first half. Therefore, he underwent surgery less than 24 hours after the injury. Inter have not set a deadline for his return, but injuries of this type usually require around eight months of recovery.

Colorado’s number 22 was injured at the end of the first half, after a pass in the area. He comes off at half-time and was replaced by Anthoni. The holder of the position, the Uruguayan Sergio Rochet, has felt discomfort in recent days and coach Eduardo Coudet is also missing.

Ivan belonged to Corinthians, but moved permanently to Inter. In recent seasons he has played for Zenit (RUS) and Vasco, but has had few opportunities. Before arriving in Porto Alegre, he almost signed with América-MG.

Without Ivan, Internacional returns to the field next Wednesday, for the second round of Gaúchão 2024. The opponent will be São Luiz, away from home, at 7pm (Brasilia time).
