Pedrinho takes office and says: ‘No one is bigger than Vasco’

The former player won the election in November, but was sworn in this Monday. Pedrinho says he is open to dialogue with the SAF

Elected president of Vasco in November, former player Pedrinho has finally taken office at Vasco. This Monday, in an event held at the Sede Náutica da Lagoa, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, the current director was sworn in for a three-year term, until the end of 2026.

In the elections, Pedrinho, of the “Semper Vasco” ticket, beat the candidate Leven Siano, of the “Somamos” ticket. The former player obtained 3,372 votes, compared to 1,844 of his opponent in the elections.

“I want to thank everyone present. An attitude of mine and Leven that I want to underline is that this is the Vasco I am looking for, with more unity. I am not bigger than Vasco, not even Leven is, and no one is bigger than Vasco. The Our biggest goal is Vasco. I have never understood what political struggle is and I think that Vasco’s fans can’t stand it anymore. I think my contribution represents this. May the opposition monitor, cover up, but also help for a Vasco better,” Pedrinho said.

Revealed by Vasco, Pedrinho won six titles with Cruz-Maltino: Libertadores (1998), Brasileirão (1997 and 2000), Mercosul (2000), Rio-São Paulo (1999) and Carioca (1998). Together with the former player, three other people take office: Paulo Salomão (First General Vice President), Renato Brito (Second General Vice President) and Alan Belaciano (President of the General Assembly).

Dialogue with the SAF

Since 2022, Vasco Calcio has been majority controlled by the American company 777 Partners. The group controls 70% of the sport, while the association, of which Pedrinho will be responsible, holds the remaining 30%. The new president Cruz-Maltino, before taking office, stated that he will always be open to dialogue with the SAF.

“It is a great honor to represent thousands of fans in this new role. As for the SAF, we will always try to dialogue. But as I said, my job is for Vasco, I am Vasco. The dialogue is always open, it is always a pleasure to talk about football and make your own contribution. Since I took the oath I have made myself available for this, it has always come to me to ensure that this happens until now. Whoever has 30% can be a minority, it must be heard “The intention is always to help and collaborate. I have rights and duties towards the association which is to monitor, direct and fight for the club and the fans, this is what I came and prepared for. The dialogue will be the first “For things to work. I support Vasco, so I will work for Vasco”, she declared.
