$500 million worldwide: Will this saga continue with Gerard Butler?

Between 2013 and 2019, Gerard Butler delighted fans of action movies with the muscular trilogy: The Fall of the White House, The Fall of London, and The Fall of the President. After grossing $500 million worldwide, will the franchise return to the big screen?

After helping US President Alan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) in the last episode, did Agent Mike Banning resign? In December 2020, Deadline announced that the new adventure of this super agent will soon see the light of day. Titled Night Has Fallen, this 4th film was to be directed by Rick Roman Waugh, who had already written The Fall of the President.

4 years later it is clear that this sequel never saw the light of day. This is partly explained by the conflict between Gerard Butler and the producers Nu Image, Millennium Films and Padre Nuestro Productions. In August 2021, the actor sued the studios for $10 million, accusing them of fraud and breach of contract.

By this time, Gerard Butler had begun filming Dragons, a live-action adaptation of the animated saga. He will reprise his role as Viking Stoic, voiced in the animated trilogy.

Kasowitz is the new Gerard Butler

In addition, a series derived from the saga will soon see the light of day, directed by Mathieu Kasowitz. It will be called The Fall of Paris. Howard Overman, creator of Misfits fame, and Oded Raskin (False Flag) are writing the script. The series will be broadcast in France on Canal+.

Set in Paris, Mathieu Kasowitz falls for Vincent, an agent responsible for protecting a French minister who is targeted by a terrorist group led by Jacob. Vincent works with MI6 agent Zara to ensure the politician’s safety.

But they find themselves at the center of the conspiracy much faster than they imagine. They suspect that one of their colleagues in the security service passed the information on to Jacob, who always manages to be one step ahead in his quest to bring down Paris.
