Greek director Giorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Creatures hit our screens last Wednesday, continuing his American adventure following The Lobster, Killing of the Sacred Deer and Favourite.
He finds it there five films later, starring Emma Stone as Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by Dr. Godwin Baxter after the latter committed suicide by jumping off a bridge.
In the role of a scientist, we meet the wonderful Willem Dafoe, and in the role of a lawyer who falls under the spell of a young woman and takes her on an initiative journey to discover Europe, Mark Ruffalo.
The actor is quite a rarity these days and we’re excited to see him soon alongside Robert Pattinson, Toni Collette and Steven Yeun for the upcoming release of Bong Joon-ho’s new film Mickey 17.

Damien Bonnard is in the casting of Poor Creatures. The French actor, best known for his roles in Les Misérables, Les Intranquilles and The Sixth Child, announced on Instagram in June 2023 that he will have a scene in Yorgos Lanthimos’ film.
In particular, he plays a family man who has an affair with Emma Stone in a fun script set in Paris. He is not the only Frenchman to star in the film, as Susie Bemba (L’Opéra, Le Retour) is also part of the cast.
