The chase in Rua Augusta ended with the arrest of the driver
It was a 53-year-old man, whose name was not revealed arrested red-handed for attempted murder and resistance after trying to escape from the police, on the afternoon of this Wednesday 24th, a Rua Augusta, Consolationcentral region of St. Paul.
To the EarthTHE Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported that military police officers were patrolling the street when they were informed of an accident in which they were hit. According to the call, the driver hit two motorcyclists and fled without providing help.
Subsequently, during the chase, the attacker hit a Civil Police vehicle and continued to flee, hitting another Military Police vehicle. When the soldiers attempted to approach the man, he drove the vehicle towards one of the officers, hitting him.
OR The police officer who was struck fell but was not injured. The soldier fired shots that hit the tires of the car used by the suspect, preventing his escape. Because the vehicle was armored, police had to use a sledgehammer to try to force the suspect out of the vehicle.
At the police station, the the man was subjected to an alcohol test which came back negative for drunkenness. The case was registered by the 4th DP, who sought examination of the place where the vehicle was approached as well as the damaged vehicles and vehicles. The Police Authority ordered the arrest of the accused in flagrante delicto, who remained at the disposal of the Court.
