The Colombian right back, 32 years old, will undergo medical examinations; If approved, he will sign for two years with the Bahian club
The Colombian Santiago Arias, 32 years old, is already in El Salvador to sign with Bahia for two years. The right-back arrived in the capital of Bahia to undergo medical tests.
The exams will therefore be held this Thursday. And, if approved, it will be announced. The player has been free on the market since he left FC Cincinnati in the United States at the end of 2023.
Santiago Arias began his career in Colombia. He also played in European clubs, such as Sporting (Portugal), PSV (Netherlands), Atlético de Madrid (Spain) and Bayer Leverkusen (Germany).
The Colombian, moreover, also accumulates call-ups for his country’s national team. Defending Colombia, he played in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, as well as the 2015, 2016 and 2019 Copa América.
During the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, he ended up getting injured, which left him out for a long time. He was called up again in 2023, to form the group competing in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
If he signs with Tricolor Bahia, however, the player will fight for a place with Gilberto, Cicinho and André.
Bahia have announced five reinforcements for the current season so far. They are: Everton Ribeiro, Jean Lucas, Caio Alexandre, Iago Borduchi (coming to the club in July) and Victor Cuesta.
