If you were a fan of the Canal+ show Le Petit Journal in 2009, you’re obviously familiar with Eric and Quentin, the comedy duo consisting of Eric Metzger and Quentin Margot. Most often, they were interspersed with a sketch broadcast during the program during the reaction to the strong news. In 2017, a year after following Ian Barthes on TMC, Eric and Quentin released a comedy to the cinema.
Titled Bad Buzz, it received an average score of 0.857077 out of 5 out of 827 viewer votes, making it the worst comedy of all time on AlloCiné, Pédale dur (0.86), People Jet Set 2 (0.93). ) or Son of Mask (0.94).
For example, Tony-76 liked the pitch of the film, but did not agree at all with the final result, as he wrote on AlloCiné: “We spend the film as a psychological torture that Bad Buzz is so completely worthless! However, the concept was quite good: two animators created bad buzz on social networks, and they need to create good buzz in order to have a career or survive.”
“Basically, I find Eric and Quentin’s column (…) extremely uneven”Psychohead warns, “But here I have to admit that it’s stupid. But this nuuuul… aww, oh, their appearance on the big screen is a disaster. I’ve never laughed once, it’s really embarrassing. Ridiculous.”

While the feature film has certain qualities to its credit – especially offering honest entertainment – some of the duo’s fans are still disappointed, such as Jonathan: “Really very heavy, not funny, boring, in the end, like TMC’s excellent daily sketch shows, except here you have to endure their gravity for 1 hour 30 hours.”
Bad Buzz was released in theaters on June 21, 2017 with 272 prints, but received only 41,548 releases in one week. The following week, it was removed from the poster with a total of only 49,323 entries. Its director, Stefan Kazanjiani, has since come back candidly about this failure:

Eric and Quentin
“Nobody believed it. The film was first offered to Thomas Soriot and François Dessanna, the directors of La Beuze and 11 Commandments, who turned it down. They read the script better than I did. (… .) Then it came. Out, nobody, including me, anymore He wanted to talk about it, he burned me as a director.”
The film is available on the new TF1+ platform.
