When singing stars go to the cinema, the result is not always. And this happened often, especially in 2000-2010. One of the most convincing examples is the 2002 romantic road movie starring pop star Britney Spears.
Rated 1.5 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers (but 2.7 out of 5 by the press), the film was panned by American critics. Britney Spears’ presence still captivated the public as it brought in over $61 million at the box office.
Written by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and Murder!), Crossroads is Britney Spears’ only acting experience. The singer had more success and good ratings on the small screen with TV series such as How I Met Your Mother or Will & Grace.
This Britney Spears movie is finally available to stream!
Good news for nostalgic fans of the singer, they will be able to (re)discover Crossroads as it arrives for the first time on the French streaming platform. Netflix announced that the film will enter the catalog on February 15

To recall, the singer plays Lucy, a serious high school student who dreams of finding the mother who abandoned her. He then goes on a road trip with his former childhood best friends Kit (Zoe Saldana), who has become very popular, and Mimi (Taryn Manning), who is pregnant and constantly at odds with others.
Their road trip to Los Angeles, led by the handsome and mysterious Ben (Anson Mount), will allow them to rediscover the true values of friendship and allow Lucy to continue singing. Crossroads allows Britney Spears to use several of her songs, including “I’m not a girl… not yet a woman” or her cover of “I Love Rock’n’Roll”. Get your microphones ready!
Crossroads is out on Netflix on February 15th.
