Tonight with the Family: Kids with super powers have the whole village on their tail!

Watch Witch Mountain with your family, available on Disney+, and tells the story of two orphans gifted with magical powers who are taken in by their “uncle” Deranian, who takes them to the luxurious home of billionaire Aristotle Bolt. The latter intends to use the children’s abilities for their own purposes, but they escape in time and the chase begins.

Completely different from the book on which it was inspired, the film “Enchanted Mountain” was a huge success upon its release. The Disney know-how is here with the touch of director John Howe, who signed the excellent House of the Damned some time ago. What emerges is a film that certainly stands out, but also has a bit of a background to the “scavenger hunt” aspect of the second installment (see below).

If your little ones enjoyed the movie, you can go ahead with its sequel, Guests From Another World, also available on Disney+, with the same cast as the kids, plus Christopher Lee and Bette Davis!

What will they like?

  • Tony and Tia’s powers: telepathy, extraordinary jumps, telekinesis or music that can activate remote objects are something that little darlings dream about.
  • Sympathy between two children: Siblings are sometimes different, but always united and can count on each other. If one is wrong, the other always puts you back on the right track.
  • Jason O’Day (Eddie Albert), who on the surface appears to be a brooding, misanthropic widower who hates children, turns out to be an old man with a tender heart who quickly helps Tony and Tia escape from their pursuers.

What could be bothering them?

Donald Plessis is a Deranie

  • Children are chased for two-thirds of the film, which may be a bit overwhelming for young children.
  • The villagers go in search of the children, who they believe are witches who must be exterminated, like the “Let’s Kill the Beast” scene from the animated cartoon “Beauty and the Beast”. Fortunately, children are very good at using their powers in ingenious ways and neutralizing opponents with harmless weapons (flour, sabotage, etc.).
