Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have just released the first trailer for the highly anticipated Despicable Me 4 , which hits theaters on July 3rd.
If in 2017 Gru was reunited with his brother Drew, this new opus introduces a new member of the family and no less: Gru Jr.! Lucy and Gru, already the parents of Margot, Edith, and Agnes, now have a little boy who is clearly not Gru’s parent, despite the undeniable physical resemblance.
In this fourth installment of the $3.5 billion saga (including the Minions spin-offs), Gru and his family will have to face new enemies: Maxime Le Mal and his girlfriend Valentina.
The new antagonists in the original version are voiced by Will Ferrell and Sofia Vergara. Joey King, Stephen Colbert and Chloe Fineman also join Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in the voice cast, while Pierre Coffin returns as the Minions.

Directed by Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage (formerly of Despicable Me and All the Scenes) and produced by Chris Meledandri and Brett Hoffman, the feature film marks the return of Gru after a 7-year absence… at least as an adult, as viewers were able to discover the latter’s childhood in the Minions 2: In Once Upon a Time , released in July 2022 (which grossed $940 million at the international box office).
The trailer released today allows us to discover the relationship between Gru and Gru Jr., and Jr.’s already strong character that charms everyone, even the most ferocious animals. The first pictures that will make you want to see more.
Despicable Me 4 It will be released in theaters on July 3.
