A crossover between two different eras
Solving the same case in two different eras is the challenge that the NCIS: Special Investigations and NCIS: Origins teams will take on. To recall, NCIS: Origins is set in the 90s and follows Gibbs as he begins his career as a special agent at the new Camp Pendleton office. He stars in a motley crew led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.
So how is a crossover between the parent series and its prequel possible? The writers found the next way to bring them together: The crossover will begin in NCIS: Origins, where Gibbs and his team investigate the death of a Navy officer in a small town. Then the case will be reopened today on NCIS.
The cast teases a crossover
Actors Wilmer Valderrama and Austin Stowell — respectively Nick Torres in NCIS: Special Investigations and young Gibbs in NCIS: Origins — spoke. parade On this crossover.
Stowell states: “The writers had this great idea to do the same thing with the same characters and the same evidence, and it all made perfect sense. With this opportunity, you’ll see the main series team examine the interrogation tapes from NCIS: Origins for the first time. We’ll start to see the two teams become more interconnected, and I imagine that will open up a lot more in the future.”

Austin Stowell, right, “Ncis: Origins”
His companion adds: “The best thing is that you’re going to see our teams work together as a crossover in a very fluid way. They’ve found a very clever way for us to interact with each other in some weird way, you know? But I think the fans will find it very clever, very fun, and see us coexist. People are like: “Obviously, if there’s a cold case here, then you’ll handle it.”But it’s more than that.”
In the future, the two series should be more connected, not necessarily a crossover, since some characters from the 90s series are still alive today. “Why wouldn’t there be more businesses that the team you see these days could reopen with the technology they have?” Stowell asks. “And it’s an opportunity to see different versions of characters who may be witnesses, or criminals, or end up behind bars when they shouldn’t be. The dramatic possibilities abound, and really, all the credit goes to our writers and creators for coming up with this really fun idea.”
symbolic date
This crossover will air across the Atlantic on November 11 in celebration of Veterans Day, a day of remembrance in the United States to honor veterans. A date that is no coincidence, as Stowell points out: “It’s our way of saying thank you to everyone who goes out of their way to protect this country and allows us to be here to play these characters. At the end of the day, they’re real superheroes. We’re just people who put on costumes on TV and give the audience a moment of escapism. So this is our way of saying thank you to them.”
NCIS: Season 23 of NCIS: Special Victims Unit and Season 2 of NCIS: Origins premiered on October 14 in the United States.
