Sales success in China, the future BYD Dolphin Mini could arrive in Brazil in two versions with prices between R$100,000 and R$120,000
One of the most anticipated launches for 2024 in Brazil, the BYD Dolphin Mini may have an ace up its sleeve as the country’s cheapest electric car. The debut is scheduled for the end of February, the Dolphin Mini should be sold on the Brazilian market in the 4 and 5 seater versions. All this to cost around R $ 100 thousand.
Sold in China since the beginning of 2023, the Seagull – seagull in English – is a success in the Asian country: in the first day of pre-sales alone, more than 10 thousand units were sold. In Brazil, the BYD Dolphin was the best-selling electric car last year, with 6,806 registrations as of August last year, according to Fenabrave.

Designed from the ground up as an electric car, the BYD Dolphin Mini follows the “Ocean” visual identity, which features a design inspired by marine animals and the ocean. On the outside, the lines are quite modern, with angular LED headlights and slim LED interlocking lights at the rear.
Inside, the finish features plastic parts of different colors, and highlights the digital panel and the 10.8″ rotating multimedia. In China, the Seagull is sold in the 4-seater version. This version should arrive in Brazil with fewer standards and lower prices, with the possibility of getting it for less than R$100,000 at launch.

The 5-seater version should offer more equipment and a price of around R$120,000. Like the Dolphin, it must be equipped with safety equipment with semi-autonomous driving functions. In China, the most powerful version of the BYD Seagull offers 102 hp (75 kW) of power. The range is up to 405 km on the Chinese cycle.
Initially, the BYD Dolphin Mini will arrive in Brazil imported. However, it will be one of the cars produced by the Chinese brand in its new plant (formerly Ford) in Camaçari (Bahia), which will receive an investment of 3 billion reals.
