TJD-PR confirmed the decision to suspend the penalty conversion against Atletico, due to the brawl between fans outside the stadium, last Saturday (27)
The Court of Justice of Sport of Paraná (TJD-PR) has ruled that the Athletico x PSTC match, next Saturday (3), for the Paraná Championship, will take place without an audience, behind closed doors at the Ligga Arena. The decision came after the TJD-PR Prosecutor’s Office requested the suspension of the penalty conversion against Atletico, due to the brawl between Atletico fans outside the stadium last Saturday (27).
During the trial that took place this Thursday (1st), the Plenary Assembly of the TJD-PR unanimously confirmed the decision. The Prosecutor’s Office had also asked Atletico to play another match behind closed doors, in addition to paying a fine. However, this request was rejected by the auditors. As a result, the public will attend the match between Athletico x FC Cascavel, next Wednesday (7), at the Ligga Arena.

Furacão would have to serve three matches of punishment without an audience, due to the brawl in last year’s Athletiba classic. However, with the conversion of penalties, the first two matches exclusively featured women, children and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The third match in the sequence, against PSTC, would be exclusively for seniors and people with disabilities, but will now be behind closed doors. Read part of the note published by Atletico regarding the decision:
It is important to underline that Atletico Paranaense has adopted all the prevention and safety measures that are its legal responsibility as the host club, aimed at the match audience. Atletico respects the decision, but regrets the social, sporting and institutional loss, mainly due to the acts of third parties who make no contribution to society and sport. We would also like to remind you that there was no unique opportunity to welcome the elderly and people with disabilities to the Ligga Arena and also to collect food for those most in need.
The club is a private institution, which cannot be held responsible for fights that take place outside the stadium, in its surroundings or in more remote areas. The powers to contain and/or combat confusion in public squares belong to the Public Security bodies, holders of the Police Power. In any case the club will continue to collaborate with the identification of people and with the authorities. – Atletico responded with a note published after the decision.
