For reference, Denzel Washington, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Willem Dafoe met with members of the New York Police Department to prepare for their roles. as for Spike LeeHere, he manages to bring auteur cinema to the commissioned film, he continued his little habit of showing his team works that inspired them in their work.
“On my last three shoots, I showed my actors and technicians films that had similar themes or atmospheres to what we were trying to do.”says the American film director. “It’s become a kind of ritual, as well as a good opportunity to get to know each other. Plus, we have some young people on set who are seeing these movies for the first time and can learn from them.”
