It was a highly anticipated series at the start of the year and it managed to pull in the crowd. Already number one on the Prime Video viewing charts, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a remake of the glamorous action film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
- Mr and Mrs Smith: After 20 years, the new couple forget Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?
Darker and more cynical than a feature film, the series, created by Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, follows the adventures of two assassins hired by a mysterious agency that brings them together as fake “husband and wife”, John and Jane Smith, played by Donald. Glover and Maya Erskine.
As their missions progress, they will meet a host of guests including Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, John Turturro, Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza Gonzalez, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman and Billy Campbell, John and Jane. Grow close, fall in love, but also face marital problems like any other average couple.
Over the course of eight episodes, the new John and Jane Smith discover, fall in love, and destroy each other before a final mission that will throw all the cards between them and provide the public with an explosive and surprising final episode.
What is the ending of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith series?
In the final episode of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jane and John split up after failing yet another mission. The mysterious agency that employs them has given them the opportunity to fail three missions and the pair have reached their quota. Realizing Jane’s greater career potential, the agency asks her to eliminate John.
Except he was attacked at home. Thinking that John has attempted to kill her, Jane follows them to their old shared apartment, where she finds John’s mother, whom she goes to talk to. Meanwhile, John tries to break into the house and enlists the help of their neighbor (Paul Dano), whom he suspects of flirting with Jane.
Passing by his house, John discovers that their neighbor is spying on them to gather information about them and leave to sell their prized possessions. Following her threat, John walks through the garden and enters the house where Jane has been hiding after John’s mother left.
Then both of them start shooting at each other and fight fiercely. Hoping to save their relationship and ease the strain, John decides to inject Jane and himself with a “truth serum” so they can finally be honest with each other. “The others – they tell each other their feelings, their real names Michael and Alana. and their flaws and that they really trust each other.
The Smiths then begin an actual session of exchange and communication, which is helpful and far more effective than their meeting with the therapist (Sarah Paulson). But just as they reconcile, the other Smiths attack! The couple John and Jane, played by Wagner Moura and Parker Posey, who met in episode 4, are here to kill them.

Indeed, this pair of Smiths is actually on a mission to kill all the annoying, useless, and incompetent Smiths the agency wants to get rid of. In a moment of haste, Jane manages to shoot the other John in the eye and escape into the secret room with her John, who is unfortunately hit by a bullet.
Jane sees on the surveillance camera that the other Jane is walking towards them and she wants to save her John. Then he decides to counterattack. A final shot of the building’s exterior shows three shots being fired. But we don’t know if Jane managed to kill the second Jane or if the second Jane managed to kill the series main Jane and John.
It’s likely that our Jane and John are dead because the other Jane had far more ammo than they did, and the post-credits scene shows the neighbor discovering a run-down and very quiet apartment. Which makes him overjoyed as he thinks he will be able to bring it back and sell it without any problems since there is no one around.
But we know that in cinema and television neither the body nor death. There is no telling that our Jane and John are really dead. If a second season of Mr. and Mrs. Smith is ordered, we might find out what happened to John and Jane.
