Security forces captured one of the country’s most wanted criminals in Valinhos (SP) on Wednesday 7th. Jakson Oliveira Santos, known as “Dako”, had been on the run for nearly 20 years and was under investigation for involvement in “mega robberies” and attacks on police forces in 2006.

The operation was carried out by teams from the 1st Police Special Actions Battalion (BAEP) of the Military Police and the Special Action Group for the Fight against Organized Crime (GAECO) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. OR Earth found that Jakson was arrested at an upscale home in the Vale Verde neighborhood of the inland city of Sao Paulo.

With him the teams seized a 9 mm caliber pistol and various ammunition, as well as camouflage uniforms, mobile phones and electronic equipment. According to the Military Police, portions of drugs and rifle accessories were also found. Experts from the Federal Police also participated in the action.

“Dako”, according to the prime minister, was sleeping at the time of the operation and did not resist the approach. Prosecutors from the GAECO of Campinas reported that the criminal issued a false document, in which he called himself “Jakson de Souza”, with which he obtained a driving license and created a CNPJ for a company. He lived a stable and privileged life in the interior of São Paulo.

Jakson was arrested red-handed for using false documents, illegal possession of firearms and possession of drugs for personal use. The criminal was taken to the first police station in Valinhos and genetic material was collected from him, which could be used by the authorities to identify his participation in other crimes.

“Dako” served time in Minas Gerais for bank robbery and was incarcerated for drug trafficking in Sao Paulo’s Casa Branca penitentiary, but did not return after gaining temporary freedom in 2005.
