Tite says Flamengo dominated Botafogo in the second half

The coach states that the victory, obtained even just in injury time in the second phase, did justice to Flamengo’s dominance

Domination and total control in the second half. For this reason, Flamengo coach Tite does not agree with those who consider the 1-0 victory over Botafogo, this Wednesday (7), at the MaracanĂ£, unfair. In the seventh round of the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo took the lead on the scoreboard only in injury time in the second half. But for the coach he did it when he already deserved the three points.

“The team had total dominance and control of the match in the second half. Therefore, they deserved to win. In the first half, Botafogo still had moments. Thanks to the quality, the good team, the coach they have. They played a fast game against the attack. Again, neutralized,” he analyzed.

Concentration was the highlight of Flamengo for Tite

Again according to the coach, one of the team’s greatest merits this Wednesday was maintaining concentration throughout the classic.

“Perseverance, tenacity, going to the end. These words are easy to say, but very difficult to execute on the field. We had a high level of concentration. And the entry of the athletes helped ensure the victory,” he stressed.

Commenting on the substitutions made during the match, the coach explained that some of them were already planned. Furthermore, he spoke again about the dispute over positions in the squad.

“It was already certain that Nico (De la Cruz) and Varela would leave. There is no test between Wesley and Varela. There is no test with players of that level. I am a coach and I have a lot of affection for the human being. I have to choose one with whom play and I have great respect for them. We played two classics in four days. The mental demands are very high,” he reflected.
