Stranger Things: what do you need to know before watching season five?

The Duffer brothers, creators of Stranger Things, have already informed fans in an open letter that the fifth season of the series will be the last. Eight years after its launch, the Netflix series, which currently has four seasons, has come a long way with ups and downs, and it breaks our hearts to say goodbye to the characters we’ve followed for so long. However, we also look forward to the fifth season, which, we hope, will answer all the questions remaining after season 4, released in 2022 on the streaming platform.

What to expect from the fifth season of Stranger Things

The first point to keep in mind is that, in the Stranger Things timeline, only 3 years passed between the first season and the fourth, with the first taking place in 1983 and the fourth in 1986. However, due to the pandemic and other delays, the actors today are a little older than they should appear in the series, so they will make a time jump so that the ages of the characters are consistent with the appearance of the actors.

We should also expect the resolution of the love triangle of Nancy (Natalia Dyer), who began a relationship with Steve (Joe Keery) in the first and part of the second season of Stranger Things, but soon after began a relationship with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton ), which proved turbulent last season. Will Max come out of a coma?

He nearly imprisons her in episode 4, when we see Max running away from him to the sound of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) in a scene fans won’t forget.

But, in the last episode, when the plan to defeat Vecna ​​involved letting him enter her mind, everything goes down the drain when the detestable Jason appears to confront Lucas and, as a result, traps Max in Vecna’s mental territories, causing her to die for a full minute before Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) resurrects her with her powers. But even with El’s intervention, Max ends up blind, with broken arms and legs, and brain dead.

In the fifth season there is a conclusion for Max, will he wake up from the coma? Will you regain your sight? Is Vecna ​​still on your mind? We will see.

What is the future of Eleven in Stranger Things?

Eleven has been on a great journey since the first season of Stranger Things, ever expanding her powers as she grows and discovers more about her abilities and history.

Season 4, specifically, brought a lot of explanations about the character’s past and achieved another feat that, until then, we didn’t know was possible: it resurrected Max whose heart had stopped beating for a minute. Will this ability be explored in Season 5? Will he be able to resurrect other people?

Another point to address is the fact that Eleven is considered a danger by the US military, who almost managed to capture her in Stranger Things season 4. Will they thwart Vecna’s plans to save the world or ally with her?

Vecna ​​is still alive

It’s worth mentioning that Vecna ​​managed to pull off the four deaths he needed (even though Max technically came back to life), and that this will have real-world consequences. In the last scenes the city is covered in soot, with plants rotting quickly and smoke and thunder in the background which are definitely not a good sign. But now we just have to wait for the fifth season to resolve our doubts and bring this much-loved series to a memorable conclusion.
