A Day on Netflix: Is the Series Any Good? Internet users are in tears

Available on Netflix starting February 8th, One Day is the hot new series of the moment. Adapted from the worldwide bestseller by David Nicholls, this British fiction tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, who meet on their university graduation day, July 15, 1988.

They grow, grow closer and grow apart, experience joy and sorrow together, and we follow their personal evolution and their friendship-love relationship over two decades and 14 episodes!

  • A Day on Netflix: There are 14 episodes in this moving series and we want more!

Already adapted for film 13 years ago by Lon Scherfig with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, One Day returns in a more modern form thanks to a new series created by Nicole Taylor and two new faces, Ambika Modi and Leo Woodall.

“Where’s the psych cell, please?”

Did this new serialized iteration convince fans and first-timers of Emma and Dexter’s fascinating and tragic story within the first hour of the novel and film? If we believe the first feedback on social networks, Internet users are simply heartbroken and need to overcome their emotions.

The TikTok community also took to the One Day series to explain how devastated they were by this moving fiction. A few videos below prove it.

As for AlloCiné viewers, who rated it 3.8 out of 5, the opinions seem to be quite positive, the overwhelming majority. Internet user Lawrence Belleville (4/5) preferred the series to the movie:

“The characters in the series complement each other, both are excellent. I give it a 4 and recommend it to people with some intelligence and experience. The question of the series is what are we like in our 20s and what are we like. Are we 35 and over??”

For CCad (4/5), it is one day “A very beautiful love story that will bring tears to your eyes”. On the other hand, Sisi75 (5/5) found the series poignant, powerful and realistic:

“This series is a dive into the skin of each of the 2 actors. We feel both sides. Until the end…the tear-filled ending should warn you. I loved all the ways, the casting, the lighting, the atmosphere.”

However, some members of the AlloCiné community note some length in this 14-episode series, such as Alonewg 29 (3/5):

“Nice series to watch… a bit long as some comments say, but it also lets you get close to the characters and the episodes aren’t too long (about 25 minutes) so we want to watch every ending of Knowledge. Next year.”
