Elena admits
Lauryn was on cloud nine after Roman presented her with a beautiful necklace. But the latter actually has an idea behind it. Indeed, the young man wanted Lorin to help him get into Helen’s room for 15 minutes. Mistaking him for an undercover journalist, Lorin refuses because she doesn’t want to get in trouble for him.
Meanwhile, Ian and Thierry managed to find a gun dealer who sold Helen a revolver. He also confirmed to the police that he had given her a Dan Wesson 715 a year ago.
In turn, Ulysses informs Alix that he has spotted an encrypted code on several documents on Christian Peyrac’s USB key. Thinking it corresponds to a bank account number, Alix thinks it’s GPS coordinates instead.
At the hospital, Ian questions Elena, who admits that she bought a gun for the shooting. In addition, he admits that he used it to kill Christian. When Lt. Cross wants to know if she fired the first shot, Helen confirms it for him. The problem is that the gun that killed Christian Peyrac is an automatic, and Helen bought a revolver. Therefore he could not kill the art dealer as he indicates. Facing the policeman’s questions, Elena loses her patience and asks the policeman to leave. When David arrives, he offers to give her a sedative to help her relax.
Back in the break room, David confides in Jennifer that Helen confessed to the police that she killed Christian. However, the nurse cannot believe her guilt. A discussion that was not missed by the novel.
At the police station, Ian confides in Commissioner Becker that he doesn’t really believe Helen’s confession. In fact, the policeman is afraid that he has put too much pressure on him. Since Helen’s version doesn’t add up, Commissioner Becker suggests they listen to her again when she leaves the hospital to see if she can corroborate her testimony. In turn, Ian will try to see if he bought another weapon.
At the end of the day, Claudine contacts Hervé Chanteau and manages to convince him to testify.
As night falls, Ulysses deciphers the code hidden by Christian. These are the GPS coordinates of the village of Montbard-sur-Lez, 30 km from Montpellier. Convinced that Christian has hidden his money there, Alix and Ulysses decide to go there the next evening. What they don’t know is that Roman is listening to their conversation.
Ludo finds the key witness
At the farm, William and Elodie read out the many messages of support they had received following the appeal for witnesses. However, these are not messages that can be used to file a complaint. Fortunately, William contacted farmer friends, many of whom were in the same situation. If one has the same cancer as him, the others have skin cancer or lung problems. Although they hold back, William still hopes to convince them to testify.
In turn, Ludo meets Hervé Chanteux, a chemist who worked for the Engrais Plus brand. He says that in the year he arrived, two production and packaging workers went on long-term sick leave. In the following years there were more and more. By analyzing the ingredients of the product, the chemist found that the level of glyphosate was higher than average.
When he discovered all this, Hervé alerted management and proposed an alternative: replace glyphosate with products that were far less toxic to workers, farmers and the ecosystem. The company rejected the avenue because it would reduce their margins. At his insistence, company officials began harassing him, then offered him an extra check and a confidentiality clause. Being on the verge of burning out, he had no choice but to adapt.
Although Ludo urges him to testify, Hervé refuses because he is still subject to the confidentiality clause. After promising not to say anything without her consent, Ludo gives her Claudine Becker’s contact details in case she changes her mind.
Afterwards, Ludo meets Elodie and Claudine at the BGL office and tells them about the interview he had with Hervé. Since Hervé’s testimony is crucial to the future, Claudine offers to convince him to change his mind.
Not far from there, Mr. Bienvenue, CEO of Engrais Plus, meets with Maître Levars to file a libel suit against Midi Libre and the environmentalists behind the article. The lawyer, as he has no means of convicting them, advises him to settle down.
