‘Thor: Love and Thunder’: The first reactions praise its humor and its cast

The humor of Taika Waititi and the good work of Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson are the protagonists of the comments on networks of ‘Thor 4’

The world premiere of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ took place yesterday in Los Angeles and the reactions have not been long in coming, qualifying the most imminent of the next Marvel releases as one of the funniest movies from the studio to date and praising the work of its cast.

The new film of the God of Thunder will tell us about his adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, with Taika Waititi and his colorful humor back at the controls of the ship. This time the villain will be Gorr, the Butcher of Gods (Christian Bale), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will once again be accompanied by Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Waititi), Sif (Jaimie Alexander) and his ex-partner Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).

The first reactions highlight the work of Christian Bale, “one of the creepiest Marvel villains we’ve ever seen on screen“, as Insider correspondent Kirsten Acuña details:

“Christian Bale is phenomenally menacing as #ThorLoveandThunder villain Gorr the Butcher of Gods. He gave me some Heath Ledger Joker vibes from ‘The Dark Knight’ at one point..”

Film critic Simon Thompson also reveals that Russell Crowe’s Zeus is a hit as comic relief:

#ThorLoveAndThunder is a vivid and vibrant explosion. Hemsworth’s Thor remains the jewel in Marvel’s crown. Bale’s Gorr is a killer boogeyman that blends campy and creepy. Portman’s Foster and Thompson’s Valkyrie are a top-tier pairing. Crowe’s Zeus is *chef’s kiss*”

Erik Davis of Fandango and RottenTomatoes highlights the work and chemistry between Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson asking for one for them a gap in the Marvel series on Disney +:

Other reactions continue extolling the comical and visual aspect from the Marvel movie:

“#ThorLoveAndThunder has ‘appetite for destruction’ and laughs. It’s totally cool! Taika Waititi offers a subversive and irreverent show. Great story, stakes and character building. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, superb. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale slip easily into the Marvel world”

“#ThorLoveAndThunder can’t quite match the visual or comedic bombast of ‘Ragnarok,’ but Taika Waititi makes up for it with an emotionally mature Marvel movie. She is also very funny (Natalie has jokes) and features one of the most impressive visual sequences in MCU history.”

“THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is a great rocking pastime with electrifying action, lots of laughs (goats screaming!) and a deep story about absent gods and our desire for love. Natalie Portman makes a powerful comeback and Christian Bale kills it as the terrifying cap. The best Thor movie so far!

Fuck. #ThorLoveandThunder is the perfect blend of Taika at his best with comedy and a punch to the gut all rolled into one. I left this movie emotionally satisfied while sobbing and it’s just perfect. We have a rock dad soundtrack. In the words of my new favorite characters: AHH
