The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is expected to summon the Israeli ambassador to Brasilia, Daniel Zohar Zonshine, to provide clarifications, after the Israeli Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, reprimanded the Brazilian ambassador to that country and declared Lula persona non grata on Israeli territory.
Katz issued the rebuke and statement after Lula compared Israel’s war in Gaza to the Holocaust waged by then-German dictator Adolf Hitler against Jews during World War II.
