The creator and showrunner of “The Boys” Eric Kripke revealed the only order that Amazon placed during the production of the already famous episode of “Herogasm” (“Supersuruba” in Brazil). And it wasn’t a request for calm. On the contrary.
“The only message we got from Amazon, which was a good suggestion, was: ‘We always have to understand that this is a superhero orgy, not just an orgy,'” the producer told Variety magazine. .
“We then added a lot of new lines and visual effects,” he explained, citing a vibrator floating around the scene as an example. “We added it later, digitally. There are a lot of moments like that happening in the background.”
The episode, of course, is much less explicit than the comics. But Kripke assured him that he never intended to make a literal adaptation of the pages written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Darick Robertson.
“As insane as the series is, the comics are exponentially crazier,” he said. “And there were some things in there that I just didn’t want to touch – literally or figuratively. So it was more of us trying to decide what was right for us – which would have been outrageous but not gratuitous.”
The episode “Herogasm / Supersuruba” was made available on Friday (24/6) on Amazon’s Prime Video platform, and the orgy is just a detail of its plot, which still has a lot of blood, shocking deaths, the apparent end of the Seven and the long-awaited showdown between Homelander and Soldier Boy.
