Russell Crowe recently revealed that he had difficulty filming Robin Hooddirected by Ridley Scott and released in 2010. In an exclusive interview with the magazine Peoplethe star said he broke both legs while filming a risky action scene.
As Crowe explained, there’s a moment in the film where the title character, who he plays, has to jump from the drawbridge of a castle and land on “rock-hard” ground, as he described it in the interview . It turns out that, in the rush to record the scene, the floor was not protected by cushions and Russell’s legs hit the ground hard.
“With hundreds of extras running around, arrows flying and the castle on fire, there was no way to get out of there. As soon as I jumped, I remember thinking, “This is going to hurt.” It was like an electric shock that went through my body,” said the actor. “We were recording a big film, so there are difficulties, but the last month has been very complicated. There have been several weeks where even walking was a challenge.”
No rest for Russell Crowe
Despite the accident, Russell thought it was nothing serious, so he continued with the recordings and his legs healed naturally over time: “I never discussed the injury with production, I never took a day off for it reason.” , I just kept working. .”
But, of course, this came at a price, as ten years later the actor began to feel “very strange pains” in his lower legs. Eventually he decided to go to the doctor and, after scans and x-rays, Crowe was shocked to discover that there were still remnants of fractures on both shins. “Apparently I finished the film with two broken legs. All for the art,” he joked.
