Director Reveals First Photo of Reunited ‘Superman: Legacy’ Cast

James Gunn posted the first photo of the reunited cast of “Superman: Legacy” on Instagram. The image includes the first image of a bald Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”) as the villain Lex Luthor. He appears in the background, hugging David Corenswet (“Pearl”), interpreter of Clark Kent / Superman.

In the caption, the director explained that the photo was taken after a collective reading of the film’s script. The place where they met was the Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California.

“Superman: Legacy” will be the first film in DC’s cinematic reboot and will also mark James Gunn’s first project as director and co-head of DC Studios.

Great cast and premise

Written and directed by Gunn, the film also stars Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Meisel”) as reporter Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo (“Santa Clarita Diet”) as photographer Jimmy Olsen, as well as other super heroes Justice League never seen before. first seen in the film: Nathan Fillion (“The Rookie”) as Guy Gardner, one of Earth’s Green Lanterns, Isabela Merced (“Transformers: The Last Knight”) as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi (“Revenge and Punishment” ) as Mister Terrific and Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”) as the Shapeshifter. In addition to these, Venezuelan actress María Gabriela de Faría (from the series “Deadly Class”) plays the villainous Angela Spica, the Engineer, and Portuguese Sara Sampaio (“Sombra”) plays Eve Teschmacher, Luthor’s assistant.

According to the first synopsis from Warner Bros., the film will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and style American, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

The plot would be inspired by “Superman: Big Stars”, a graphic novel by Grant Morrison that showed the hero torn between his “Kryptonite heritage” and his more human side. Recently, James Gunn also suggested the influence of “Superman: The Four Seasons”, which chronicles Clark Kent’s adolescence in the town of Smallville. This miniseries written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Tim Sale is also considered the biggest influence on the “Smallville” series.

“Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to premiere in July 2025.
