The Zone of Interest arrives in theaters a few days after the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz camp.
Used by SS officers, the term Area of interest refers to the 40 square kilometers surrounding Auschwitz, the largest concentration camp of the Second World War.
It is also the title of the fourth film in Jonathan Glazer (Reincarnation, Under the skin), winner of the Grand Prix at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. As soon as it was presented, the feature film invaded the Croisette. Internationally, the film was released in theaters on January 31, four days after the 79th anniversary of the camp’s liberation. In Brazil, the film premiered on February 15.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Martin Amis – rejected by Gallimard – The Zone of Interest follows the domestic life of the family of commander Rudolf Höss (Cristiano Friedel), who acted under Hitler’s orders.

Only a concrete wall separates the horror from their daily life. The Höss, especially his wife Edvige (a chilling Sandra Hüllerstar of Anatomy of a fall), spend their time perfecting the house and garden, reminiscent of Jacques Tati’s Mon Oncle.
