Real Madrid suffers, but beats Sevilla at the Bernabeu

Real’s victory only came towards the end of the match and the home team had difficulty creating offensive situations

Real Madrid scored 1-0 at Sevilla this Sunday (25th), in a match valid for round 26 of the Spanish championship. The clash took place at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and the home team had a lot of difficulty creating attacking moves. The goal came from the feet of Luka Modric.

With this result, Real remained at the top of the table, with 65 points, while Sevilla is 15th, with 24 points. In the next round, the Whites will visit Valencia on Saturday (2/3) at 5pm Brasilia time. The red team hosts Real Sociedad, the same day, at 10am.

THE GAME

The match started with Sevilla controlling possession, while Real increased the scoring to try to steal in the offensive field.

In the 6th minute Rodrygo attempts a crescent table with Valverde but falls after sharing with the defender. Sevilla attacked again in the 14th minute, when Ocampos shot from outside the area and Lunin, well positioned, saved. In the 17th minute Rodrygo looks for action on the right wing but is disarmed by Navas. Then, in the 20th minute, Sow shared the cross ball with the Ukrainian but went straight towards the goalkeeper and committed a harsh foul.

Afterwards, the match cooled down and the teams found it difficult to repel their attacks. The initial proposal, to dominate ball possession, remained active and the two exchanged passes without too many dangers. In the 33rd minute, the visitors called for a penalty when Isaac went down after colliding with Vasquez, but they fell on deaf ears. Nothing to score.

In the 38th minute Real attacked with Tchouameni. The Frenchman arrived in the area and directed the ball into the net. Lots of danger and almost a goal for the Merengues. Later, in the 41st minute, Vini shoots the ball from the edge and crosses to the center. The ball went straight over the baseline and the number 7 regretted the move.

In the last minute of regular time, El Nesyri tried to dribble past Kroos but the German made the tackle with style and came out playing with all the quality he is used to presenting. The clock is already at 46′ when Valverde releases the bomb from afar and forces Nyland to make a good save to guarantee the equaliser.

The teams entered the dressing room with 0-0 on the scoreboard and needed to improve a lot to get the three points this Sunday.

Despite the long injury time, the match offers no new emotions and ends 1-0 for Real Madrid.
