Bob Marley: a love, a film that tells the story of one of reggae’s greatest legends, surpassed the $100 million mark worldwide last weekend: the film has grossed $120 million so far and ranked first in the US box office. Second in the world rankings of 2024, the production could become the second most successful biopic about a musical artist.
Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard: Creating Champions), Bob Marley: a love specifically features the period leading up to the famous One Love Peace Concert, in 1978, held in the midst of a political crisis in Jamaica.
The musician is played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, from Secret invasionand Rita Marley, his wife, by Lashana Lynch. Ziggy, Marley’s son, is among the film’s producers.
Bob Marley is the most famous and legendary singer in the history of reggae. His songs, which have marked generations, speak of love, peace and spirituality, immortalized over the years. The musician died in 1981, at the age of 36, a victim of aggressive skin cancer.
