Tonight on TV: Russell Crowe in the amazing real history of legendary boxing

Every day AlloCiné recommends watching a movie on TV (again). Tonight: Ron Howard’s powerful film.

Director Ron Howard joins comedian four years after starring in director Russell Crowe’s “Special Man.” From shadow to lightA biographical film that tells a true story, close to a fairy tale, about Jim Braddock, who became a world heavyweight boxing champion when he recently resumed his career with his family during the Great Depression.

Thanks to the collaboration of Jim Braddock’s two sons, nurtured by an intimate and personal approach makes the scenario all the more painful. Thanks to a huge amount of remodeling and references to avoid any unnecessary auctions, Ron Howard gives the film, and in particular the sections in the ring, maximum authenticity.

Finally, Russell Crowe, nominated for Best Actor in the SAG and Golden Globe category, really puts in a spectacular performance. Dedicated to embodying his character, he carried out a long paperwork of work, as well as a very demanding sports exercise program (to the point of having his shoulder amputated and postponed for 7 weeks), led by Angelo Dundee, the former. The coach of Mohammed Ali, who himself had the opportunity to see Jim Braddock fight.

A special mention, too, is of Craig Bierko, who here offers a representation of a murderous witch with the false air of Nicolas Cage, which has shaken many of his opponents.
