The Rampage could get a 200 hp 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine in 2024

With less than a year on the market, the Ram Rampage could be enriched with an important innovation in 2024. Apparently, the pick-up produced in Goiana (PE) should soon be equipped with a new 200 horsepower 2.2 turbodiesel engine, which is being tested with the model in the country.

According to the Autos Segredos website, the new Rampage 2.2 is expected to debut in the 2025 pickup lineup. This is the same 2.2 Multijet II turbodiesel engine from the Pratola Serra family, which already powers the Jeep Grand Cherokee in Europe. At the time, the engine offered up to 200 hp and 440 Nm. However, it is not yet known whether it would have had extra power for the Rampage.

It should replace the current 2.0 turbodiesel with 170 HP and 380 Nm that equips the Rebel and Laramie versions of the pick-up. As currently, all versions will have to maintain the 9-speed automatic transmission and the intelligent 4×4 traction system. The R/T version, with its sporty appeal, should only retain the 272 HP 2.0-litre turbo petrol option.

Along with the new engine, the new entry-level version of the Big Horn should also hit the market. Already launched in countries like Uruguay, the cheaper variant of the Rampage was launched this year, with the new engine. On the outside, the Rampage Big Horn has a more “roots” look, with black or body-color plastic finishes.

The wheels are 17″, and even details such as the door handles and the rear bumper have given up the chrome finish. To make it more economical, the version is also not equipped with autonomous emergency braking, ACC, object and person detector , blind spot sensor and driver’s knee airbag, but maintains technological and comfort elements.
