Asked about possible career regrets, Mel Gibson Immediately think of Barry Levinson’s classic. “Hell, I remember the day I got the script Rain Man– says the actor. “That was kind of cool.”

Journalist Charlie Rose then asked if he had been offered the role of Raymond Babbitt, the autistic brother that Dustin Hoffman would eventually play on screen. “I think so, yes”– says Gibson, somewhat disappointed. “But the thing is, Dustin played that character. And he was incredible.”

It was released in cinemas in 1989. Rain Man It tells the story of Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise), a busy businessman who is robbed of a large amount of money. He then discovers that the lucky beneficiary of the nest egg is Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), an autistic savant who is none other than his brother.
