Season 2 of Rings of Power is long over. Perhaps for the better, if we’re to believe the statements of one of its directors, Charlotte Brandstrom, who announces a series with a darker tone.
Meanwhile, the series’ showrunners have reached a new deal with Amazon MGM Studios, potentially a positive sign for the series’ future. Patrick McKay and JD Payne have signed a three-year deal that also launches their own production company, 10:40 PM Productions.
Rings of Power Season 2 has wrapped filming and will be released later this year. Although a third season has not yet been officially ordered and the writers’ room has yet to open its doors, work has begun on an initial story outline.
lessons learned
We must remember that Amazon made a big bet on the series by investing colossal amounts of money. Public and critical reception was mixed in light of the first season, which was sometimes considered too flashy.
Patrick McKay and JD Payne have already announced their plans for a second season The Hollywood Reporter with a behind-the-scenes description of the upcoming season. And when asked what they learned after the first season, McKay’s response was encouraging:
“This can be an answer that takes an hour. Creating this series has been a great learning experience for everyone involved.McKay added that the goal for season two was to “Bigger and better“has”All levels… by order of magnitude. The bar should be set higher.“
