‘Elvis’: release date on HBO Max

Baz Luhrman’s frenetic biopic of the King of Rock is made for the big screen, but it’s coming to the small soon.

Elvis It’s now in theaters, and if all goes well, this frenetic biopic of the King of Rock should be a box office smash. At least for those fans of the musical biopic who are looking for something other than superheroes and nostalgic sequels to old franchises. But even if the king of rock becomes the king of the billboard, which we hope so, the truth is that those who cannot or, unfortunately, do not want to go to the cinema to see it, will not have to wait long.

Although we may not have it as assimilated to Warner as to the Harry Potter or DC universe, Elvis is also a company production and, as such,it will take only 45 days to arrive at HBO Max. As has recently happened with the production company’s bombshells such as ‘Fantastic Animals: Dumbledore’s Secrets’ or ‘The Batman’, Luhrman’s tape will only take a month and a half to reach the streaming platform that has turbocharged its bets since he added the Max to his name. Having been released in theaters on June 24, we can wait to see it on HBO Max on Monday, August 8. Perhaps, though we don’t know, they’ll change the date to fit on a day that, well, isn’t a Monday in August. We do not rule out that Sunday the 7th will arrive or they will make us wait a bit, for example until Friday the 12th.

The important thing is that in the middle of August, whoever has missed the biopic that has reminded us that quality biographical films can be made, will be able to enjoy their best scenes or the full movie in the middle of August. If you still have vacations left, then it is the perfect plan. If you have already returned to work and you are in the middle of post-vacation depression, then you already have a plan to lift your spirits a little. And if that’s not done by Elvis’s music and Luhrman’s montage… It’s because you deserve another vacation.

Let us remember that HBO and Warner adopted this dynamic for everything that happened during the pandemic. In fact, in 2020 they made simultaneous releases despite the protests of several filmmakers. Now the strategy is only 45 days but perhaps, with projects like ‘Black Adam’ and ‘Aquaman 2’ on the horizon this year, they will consider changing things again. Cinema in theaters, even with its failures, is returning to blockbusters and, of course, it does not help that the wait to see it for free at home is minimal. An example of this is ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, which has swept the box office without any release date on platforms. If you want to see it in the near future, you better go to the movies. You can wait for Elvis but, again, the best plan is to go see her at the cinema and then, in August, sweat again next to a Butler possessed by the hips of the king of rock.
