A month before the Super Cup, Palmeiras is looking for new protagonists to beat San Paolo

Palmeiras should have four new players among the starters who did not make it to the 11 in the Super Cup

Palmeiras will face São Paulo (3) next Sunday, at Morumbis, in a match valid for the eleventh round of the Paulistão 2024. Already first in the group, Verdão plays to try to upset the life of its rival who is not yet secured a spot in the state finals.

A month after finishing second in the Super Cup, Abel Ferreira lost two important starters who played at Mineirão, but got good news that he ended up not playing that day.

Mayke and Gustavo Gómez are two notable absences in the Alviverde defense, which has obtained replacements Marcos Rocha and Luan. Both reserves in the Super Cup, the pair started the year strongly and took part in many of Verdão’s attacking actions, including assists.

Aníbal Moreno is another new player who has played very little in the Super Cup. For physical reasons, the Argentine came on as a substitute in Belo Horizonte and only played in the final minutes of the match. Now a starter in Alviverde’s midfield, the number 5 should start at the Morumbis at the weekend.

In attack, Abel Ferreira gets perhaps the biggest reinforcement that he couldn’t play a month ago at Mineirão. Endrick was excluded from the Super Cup due to the Olympic team, and now appears as Verdão’s main attacker to try to beat the rival away from home.

The probable Palmeiras team that will face Sao Paulo this Sunday is: Weverton, Rocha, Murilo, Luan and Piquerez; Aníbal Moreno, Richard Rios, Zé Rafael and Raphael Veiga; Endrick and Flaco Lopez.
