Where to watch ‘Dune’? The first part is available in two streams

Do you want to remember the plot of the first part of Dune, released in 2021, before embarking on the second part, which premiered last Thursday (29) in cinemas? So here’s a quick tip: the first film is available on First Videofrom Amazon, e Maximum (formerly HBO Max).

Telling both sides of this story is director Denis Villeneuve, with photography by Greg Fraser (Rogue One AND Batman) – hence the appeal on social media, it must be said. The science fiction epic is based on the book of the same name (620 pages long!) written by Frank Herbert.

Previously inside Dune

In the first part of this story, Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) administers the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune, home to the only source of the rare substance called “melange”, used to prolong human life and achieve the speed of planet. light and confer superhuman powers.

Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), his servants and his concubine Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) travel to Dune, at the behest of the Duke, to ensure the future of his family and his people. However, a betrayal for the possession of the “melange” pushes Paul and Jessica to flee to the Fremen, natives of the planet who live in the most remote corners of the desert. In this community, Paul meets Chani (Zendaya).

In the second part of Dune (see first impressions), Paul allies himself with Chani and the Fremen as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. And the boy is about to become something of a messiah for the galaxy.

A spiritual, mystical and martial journey begins. To become Muad’Dib, as he seeks to prevent the horrific but inevitable future he has witnessed, Paul Atreides sees a Holy War in his name, spreading throughout the known universe.

Faced with the choice between the love of his life and the fate of the universe, Paul must avoid a terrible future that only he can predict. If all goes as planned, he could lead humanity into a promising future.

Months in the desert

One of the differences of Dune: Part 2, highlighted by the director himself, was the landscape used in the recordings. Villeneuve confirmed that the film’s cast spent nearly a month filming in the desert.

The director praised the location and services provided by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission and the UAE-based production company Epic Films, in a behind the scenes promotional video. According to him, the Liwa Oasis in Abu Dhabi constitutes a substantial part of the landscape of the desert planet Arrakis, home to sandworms.

Dune is about the relationship between man and nature. It was important to me to bring that nature to the screen, to feel that there was something that feels real, that feels tactile.

Denis Villeneuve, director of Dune 2
