For those used to listening to audiobooks, Spotify has announced a specific subscription plan that gives access to this type of content on its platform, and is cheaper than the app’s regular Premium plan. The information comes from The limit.
The audio streaming company billed the new plan as a subscription that “gives book lovers more listening options.” This subscription, in the USA, costs US$9.99 (about R$50), one dollar less than the classic premium plan. The mode, however, is exclusive to the United States for now and is not available in Brazil.
It’s worth noting that the premium plan offers the same benefits as access to the app’s audiobooks, i.e. 15 hours of monthly consumption, as well as ad-free music and podcast consumption. In the new subscription presentation, ads for these other audio formats remain, with the same 15 hours available for audiobooks.
It is possible to increase this number of hours, for those who consume audiobooks on a truly large scale. For $12.99, subscribers can purchase an extra 10 hours of books on both the classic premium plan and the new audiobook plan.
Spotify’s large audiobook library attracts subscribers
Spotify’s audiobook plan can also be advantageous because it is cheaper than Premium, despite having a minimal price difference and without as big a gain in terms of benefits. Perhaps, since it is an audio format-specific plan, it should allow for more hours of audiobooks per month at the base level.
