At the Oscars, there are nominees and winners, and obviously there’s only one winner per category. From year to year, in most cases, the winner changes. On the other hand, there are talented people who often get nominated without ever winning. And the man we’re going to talk about today, Greg P. Russell is one of them.
It’s not exactly an enviable record, but without 17 Oscar nominations, Greg P. Russell is officially the biggest loser in the entire academy. But who is he?

Who is Greg P. Russell?
Greg P. Russell is a sound mixer who has worked on over 240 projects, almost exclusively for film. His job is to blend the actors’ voices with sound effects and music in post-production so that the whole is a pleasing harmony to listen to rather than a terrifying cacophony.
A shady profession that allowed Russell to take part in the Transformers trilogy, Apocalypto, Spider-Man 2 and The Patriot. He also worked on many productions of famous producer Jerry Bruckheimer such as Rock, Days of Thunder, Pearl Harbor and Hell’s Wings.
17 nominations in 27 years!
However, the Academy has never awarded statues, despite being nominated 17 times in 27 years. Collider ! His last nomination was for the 2017 Michael Bay action film 13 Hours, for which he did many of the mixes. Her first date was Black Rain in 1990!
Will Greg P. Recognition of Russell’s work in later years? If the issue is resolved by 2024 because it’s not mentioned, let’s hope 2025 is (finally) favorable for it!
