At 1.30 meters in length, Xartrux surpasses the former record holder and could be made official by Guinness as the longest cat in the world




A feline of the breed Maine Coons called Xartruxcreated in Jaúinternal St. Paulcould officially become the the largest cat in the world. With a length of 1.30 m and a weight of over 10 kilos, the giant could surpass the current world record holder record bookanother Maine Coon, Italian, measuring 11 cm shorter.

The information was released this Wednesday (6) by G1. Tutors Márcia Oliveira and Jean Martins await the official opinion of the record book, which should arrive between the end of April and the beginning of May. The couple has been breeding Maine Coons since 2013.

At G1 they said they adopt a rigorous standard of care, with a balanced diet, regular bathing and frequent brushing.

“I don’t even consider the expenses we have to bear, but rather investments in their well-being,” says Márcia.

Márcia and Jean sent the Xartrux documentation to the jurors in January. The official measurement will be carried out in the presence of accredited witnesses, including a journalist, a photographer and a judge.

Know the breed

The six-year-old is described as sweet, lazy and sociable. Surprisingly, in the first months of his life he was the smallest of the puppies in his litter. The growth, although expected for the breed, was extraordinary and the cat ended up surpassing its brothers.

Maine Coon cats can easily reach more than 1 meter in length and weigh up to 12 kilograms or more, especially males.

I am “gentle giants“, combining size with an affectionate and sociable character. Their growth is slow and continuous, and can take up to five years to reach maximum size.
