And three! The universe of the Big Bang Theory is about to expand once again. Following Young Sheldon, a spin-off centered around Sheldon Cooper’s childhood, CBS has just greenlit a new spin-off series starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment that will hit American screens next year.
Sequel to Young Sheldon
Created by Chuck Laurie, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, with The Big Bang Theory and young Sheldon in mind, the sitcom follows the daily lives of George Cooper Jr., Sheldon’s brother, and Mandy McAllister, now young parents. Challenges of adulthood, parenting and family problems.
The new spin-off, which will therefore take the place of Young Sheldon, bows out in the coming weeks at the end of Season 7.
“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family. This wonderful journey will now continue for George and MandyCBS Entertainment anchor Amy Reisenbach said in a statement.
“Chuck and both Steves did a masterful job of developing these characters and entertaining fans with realistic, heartwarming stories that Montana and Emily brought to life. We look forward to the next chapter of this lovely world.”
George’s story
Thanks to The Big Bang Theory, we know that George and Mandy will no longer be a couple in the future, Sheldon’s brother has had two ex-wives. This means that between his involvement in Young Sheldon Season 6 and the events of The Big Bang Theory, a lot has happened in George’s love life.
It remains to be seen if this new spin-off will follow the parent series’ timeline. Steve Holland actually said TVLine :”It’s not because it’s a story that needs to be told.”
