Flamengo overcomes the obstacles with Lille and forwards the sale of Thiago Maia to Internacional

The division of the midfielder’s rights with the French Lille has put a brake on the negotiations between Rubro-Negro and Colorado

Flamengo overcomes the obstacle with Lille, from France, and forwards the transfer of Thiago Maia to Internacional. Clubs are racing against time to regularize the transfer in the CBF daily newsletter (BID).

Colorado had already agreed on the value of 4 million euros (R$21.65 million at current prices) to Rubro-Negro for Thiago Maia. Negotiations were stalled for a few weeks, as Lille, owners of 50% of the rights, wanted the locals to transfer a larger sum to give up 25% of the rights.

In the final hours of the Brazilian transfer market, Flamengo reached an agreement with the French and Rubro-Negro will receive 2.85 million euros (R$15.39 million) for 25%. Lille will pocket 1.15 million euros (R$6.21 million) and retain 25% of the economic rights. The information comes from journalist Venê Casagrande.

At the start of the season, Thiago Maia was informed that he would not be in the plans of Tite’s technical committee and began training separately at Ninho do Urubu. The midfielder, who attracted interest from Corinthians at the start of the season, joined Flamengo in 2020.

At Internacional, the midfielder would compete for a place with Charles Aránguiz and arrives in Eduardo Coudet’s team to replace Johnny, who is at Real Betis, in Spain.
