One of Disney’s first easter eggs
Today, and every Disney animated movie released in theaters since the early 90s, is a veritable Ali Baba cave in terms of Easter eggs, winks, and little references.
Obviously, the same cannot be said for the studio’s first works, which were released more than 80 years ago, at a time when the concept of hidden details did not really exist. And yet… if we look a little closer at the opening minutes of Dumbo, the 4th animated classic from Enchanted Studios, we can see a real easter egg, even in 1941!
WDP Circus
To find it, you’ll have to press pause at 5 minutes and 52 seconds into the movie, to be exact, at the scene where the little circus train leaves to continue its cross-country tour. If you look carefully at the sign at the entrance to the city, under two palm trees, you will be able to find out exactly what the name of the circus is, which is never mentioned in the feature film.
It really is a WDP circus. But what could these three letters mean, you may ask? Just…Walt Disney Pictures!
That’s why Dumbo Circus has the same name as the enchanted studios that brought the little elephant to life.
