The fashion world series has never been so inspiring. The New Look, Cristóbal Balenciaga, La Maison and today Karl Lagerfeld. This fictional project about one of the world’s greatest fashion designers is directed by German actor Daniel Brühl, who transformed himself for the occasion.
The beginning of Kaiser Karl
If this Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t sound like the designer image you have, that’s okay. This biographical series focuses on a very specific period of his career, namely the Seventies in Paris, where the designer made his mark as an employee of the Chloé brand before joining the House of Chanel in 1983.
Become Karl Lagerfeld is also interested in a complicated love story involving the German Jacques de Bascher, played here by Theodore Pellerin (Genèse, Killer Game). Many famous figures from the fashion world appear in the series, such as Yves Saint Laurent – played by Arnaud Valois (120 beats per minute) – and Pierre Berger, played by Alex Lutz (Guy). Note that Agnès Jaoui stars as Gabrielle Aghion, the founder of the house of Chloé.
