Carlos Tramontina: find out what the journalist’s life is like after leaving Globo

After a decades-long television career, Tramontina finds new paths, invests in personal projects and keeps her private life out of the spotlight

Carlo Tramontina is one of the most respected names in Brazilian journalism. With a career spanning more than four decades at TV Globo, he has become a point of reference in the presentation of major news programs and news coverage. In 2022, however, Tramontina decided to take an important step: leaving the broadcaster that had been her home for 43 years, looking for new directions and more time for her personal life.

In recent interviews he revealed that the decision to leave Globo was not motivated by disagreements with the company, but rather by the desire to experience new opportunities and to reconcile professional life with family time. “I didn’t want to be 80 and realize I had to do it”he said, reflecting on the importance of prioritizing personal projects and family relationships.

After leaving Globo, Carlos Tramontina signed a contract with CNN Brasil, but his stay on the channel was short. He chose to focus on initiatives that gave him greater freedom and direct contact with the public. Currently, the journalist participates in the Flow News channel on YouTube, where he conducts interviews and debates on relevant current topics, demonstrating that he remains active and connected to journalism, but in modern and more flexible formats.

In addition to her work on digital platforms, Tramontina also works as a speaker, provides mediation training and shares experiences accumulated over decades of career. This new phase allows him to explore areas that were previously only secondary in his routine, demonstrating that it is possible to reinvent oneself even after a pre-established trajectory.

In his personal life, Carlos Tramontina maintains the same discretion that has always characterized his career. Married for more than 40 years to Rosana Gerab, he rarely publishes family documents. One of the few recent exceptions was a selfie posted during Caco Barcellos’ wedding to attorney Carla Tilley in October 2023. In the caption, Tramontina celebrated his long partnership with his wife: “With my life partner!”

Throughout his career, Carlos Tramontina has covered historical events, presented major news programs and earned the public’s trust with his serious, ethical and dedicated attitude. Even far from Globo he continues to be a point of reference for communications professionals and admirers of his work, demonstrating that experience and passion for journalism have no expiry date.

Today he manages to combine a flexible work routine, social media presence and free time with his family, proving that it is possible to build a solid career without giving up living fully.
