The work tells the story of physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who led the US government project responsible for building the atomic bomb. With a running time of three hours, the film has broken records since its debut, becoming the highest-grossing film set during World War II.
The director himself celebrated the resounding success. The film surpassed the $950 million (R$4.61 billion) mark in worldwide revenue, ranking as the third highest-grossing film of 2023.
