Gentlemen on Netflix: Will there be a second season of the Guy Ritchie series?

It is the number 1 series of the moment on Netflix, The Gentlemen is the new success of Guy Ritchie. The director of Scams, Crimes and Botany and Snatch was inspired by his own film Gentlemen Expand his gangster world.

The 8-episode fiction tells the story of how Eddie Horniman (Theo James), a fine aristocrat in all respects, turns into a crime lord when he unexpectedly inherits his father’s vast fortune.

Because the land is actually part of a veritable cannabis empire coveted by Britain’s most dangerous organized crime figures. Eddie will do whatever it takes to catch them at their own game with Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) as an accomplice.

Is a second season possible?

Just a week after its release on Netflix, The Gentlemen is already a hit for the platform, with top views in the top hundreds. In addition to the rush to the series, subscribers were completely won over by Guy Ritchie’s fiction. What makes Netflix give it a second season?

The Gentlemen series ends with an epic eighth episode, which could lead to a sequel, but also ends the story, as Kaya Scodelario reminded us in an interview:

“I think the series is a strong story from beginning to end, and I’m pretty proud of that. I think it’s really cool that we’re making some decisions that we’re coming full circle. I think it’s also really good in that sense that it can really be self-sustaining. “

But Susie Glass’s interpreter wouldn’t be opposed to finding the character of this gangster girl, even if she explains that there have been no casting consultations at this time:

“We haven’t had any discussions about it. That kind of thing is out of our control. I know a lot of people make those decisions and we’re the last ones to know. Personally, I think I really enjoyed playing Susie and it would have been fun to explore her a little bit more.” , seeing other sides of him and going on adventures with him.”

And it looks like the entire Glass family is set to reunite with The Gentlemen for season two, like Harry Goodwins, whose character Max Glass survived a near-fatal fight:

“It was really fun to shoot. And my character didn’t die, which is fantastic. I’d love for him to come out of the hospital and be able to go back into that world, with a little more panache this time. He really got involved in the criminal world with his family.”

Same story for Ray Winstone, who plays gangster Bobby Glass: “I think it all depends on Guy Ritchie and whether he wants to go further. And obviously if the series is successful, then Netflix will want to go further. But if we had a choice, I’d say yes to a new Bobby’s. Circle.”

Discussions are already underway

Glass family members can rejoice, discussions are apparently already underway for a second season of The Gentlemen! Indeed, Mark Hellwig, head of Miramax Television, which produces the series, explained Deadline That Guy Ritchie is already in talks with Netflix.

“We have started this process”Helwig explained. “There are a few writers we’ve talked to, certainly a lot of discussions with Guy about what he wants to do in season two, what to focus on. It has to work first and then we’ll hear more, but there’s already active discussion about what it’s going to look like.” second season.”.

As of now, Netflix has yet to officially announce a second season for The Gentlemen, but the success of the series should make the platform more willing to commit to new episodes. Will Guy Ritchie decide to continue the adventures of Eddie and Susie or start an anthology of new characters each season?
