The new 2025 VW Nivus is spotted testing ahead of launch

About to undergo a restyling, the Volkswagen Nivus coupe SUV should have a 1.0 170 TSI engine from the Polo and a 150 horsepower GTS sports version

Launched in 2020, the Volkswagen Nivus will have important new features in 2024. About to receive a facelift, the coupe SUV was caught testing while still camouflaged. Apart from the cosmetic changes, the Nivus is also expected to get two new engine options. The images were created by Rafael Mafra and were published by the Placa Verde profile (@placaverde) on Instagram.

While they don’t reveal many details about the new Nivus, the photo reveals that the model will feature changes to both the front and rear. In the case of the Nivus, the appearance is expected to acquire elements from the European Taigo, including new bumpers, interconnected LED lights and IQ.Light headlights – at least in the top-of-the-line versions.

Inside, the finishes should have new patterns and fabrics different from the current model. Another important news will be the debut of the GTS version. Following the recipe of the Polo GTS, the configuration will have sporty finishes and larger wheels. Under the hood the engine will be the well-known 1.4 turbo flex with 150 HP and 250 Nm of torque.

As for the entry options, the engine will be the 170 TSI, already offered on the Polo and Virtus. With 116 HP and 165 Nm, the 1.0 turbo will always have to be associated with the 6-speed automatic transmission that will also equip the other versions. However, versions equipped with this engine must only have disc brakes on the front wheels, with drums on the rear.

There are also rumors circulating that the Nivus might have an exclusive version as well. Like the Virtus, the version would have a more refined look and finish, with new patterns and fabrics. The engine would also be the same as the GTS version, the 1.4 TSI. The Comfortline and Highline configurations will have to maintain the current 1.0 200 TSI with 128 HP and 200 Nm.

European Volkswagen Taigo: inspiration for the Nivus GTS

Officially Volkswagen has not yet confirmed the launch of the new Nivus. However, the SUV coupe is likely to arrive facelifted by the end of this year, probably only in the second half of the year. Before that, it will be the turn of the new T-Cross, which is expected to be launched in the coming months.
