Every day AlloCiné recommends watching a movie on TV (again). Tonight: Laurent Lafitte and Melanie Laurent in an adaptation of a novel by Tatiana de Rosney.
Adapted from Tatiana de Rosney’s Second Novel in English (“Secret keptBoomerang, released in 2009, is François Favrat’s third feature film. In addition to his sensitivity to the book, the latter has long wanted to explore the topic of family secrecy that concerns him personally.
Thus, the script intensifies the original conspiracy (much longer and involves many characters) about Antoine’s search for a forty-year-old man who cares about the exact circumstances of his mother’s death 30 years ago.
To portray this character, François Favrat immediately came up with Laurent Lafitte, who had already starred in The Role of His Life. Thus, the actress is illustrated in the drama register, which we still know very little about at the time, in response to Audrey Dana, Melanie Laurent or Vladimir Jordanoff. Another protagonist himself: a house on the island of Noirmouth, where the film takes place, reminiscent of the Palace of Psychosis.
Boomerang effectively portrays the Franco-British Tatiana de Rosney romantic legacy between the Family Chronicle and the Hitchcock thriller. On screen, his exciting story, in the service of the actors, forms a well-performed suspense to the final, unbridled surprise. At AlloCiné, the film has an average viewer rating of 3.8 out of 5.
